NY style Hip Hop is alive and well.  While today’s popular choreographer have just been regurgitating the same MTV/YouTube dances, I make sure to bring history, culture and integrity to those that are willing to learn.

I have been blessed to be in the NYC club for over 18 years. Since then I have shared the dance floor with countless pioneers, allowing me to learn first hand what our culture is about.

Through my success as a dancer/choreographer, I have seen how Hip Hop and other Street Styles have crossed over all kinds of boundaries.

My classes cover many aspects surrounding NY Style Hip Hop Dance, Style, Emotion and its culture.

This will be a learning experience on Hip Hop dance elements along with the other street and funk styles; Breaking, Locking, Popping, House and Salsa/Mambo.  All which play significant roles in Hip Hop culture, dance and its evolution.

Also, as a member of the world renowned TATS cru, true graffiti legends, world Mural kings and my mentors, my roots as a Graffiti writer and now muralist play a significant role in the content of what I teach in class. Encompassing the bigger picture of Hip Hop culture.

There will not be a core class on any one specific style or element, but it will touch on the basics and foundation in each class.  The more popular steps or “moves” of today will be incorporated to show the correlation to earlier dances.  Giving them the opportunity to learn more about a certain part of this culture.

No student will be asked or expected to master any of these styles.  This is a field that requires the same amount of time, energy and dedication as Ballet or Tap. As other genres have been accepted by the masses, Hip Hop still falls behind in credibility. Yet, it is arguably the largest Art movement in history.

One of the main goals is to shed light on this misunderstood, vilified, raw, yet beautiful American Art form.

Students are only asked to show respect and be willing to participate when and if they feel comfortable.
